The Great Bike Transplant

After the 2006 brevet season I determined that by Rambouillet was smaller then I would like and that I could use a second bike to absorb some of the training miles and take some of the pressure off of my brevet bike. I tried for quite some time to find a 62cm orange Rambouillet frame. I saw many other sizes come and go on ebay and on various forums I frequent but never a 62cm. I had just about given up and was considering a new frame when I got an email from a forum member offering me a brand new never built orange 62cm frame at a very attractive price. I snapped this up and was thrilled to have a new frame to work with rather then a used on.
I was contemplating whether I should keep the old bike for a training bike or look for something else slightly larger and cheaper. On my next trip to the LBS they showed me the line of steel Soma frames they could get. The decision was made. I could sell the old Rambouillet to someone who would put it to good use and use the money to get a new Soma Smoothie ES, a new crankset and one or two other components. I really wanted a bike that I could use and abuse and not worry about. The old Rambouillet deserved better and for the price the Soma was nearly a disposable bike.
The brevet season is fast approaching so it is time to play musical parts and get these bikes on the road.
